Rebecca believes if she cannot enrich the lives of those around her, she impoverishes her truest self of purpose. She is passionate about global social change, human-centered management, education technology, and social entrepreneurship.
Rebecca has consistently been recognized for her leadership and service. This past year, she received the Lifetime Volunteer Service Award by the White House for her lifelong service to community and country. Additionally, this year, Rebecca was a co-editor and chapter contributor for the book Designing Engaging and Interactive Synchronous Online Class Sessions. The book has been viewed over 30,000 times by readers in 61 countries, and it has been recognized with three awards: a 2022 Chief Learning Officer Magazine Technology Award, a 2022 LearnX Learning Technology Innovation Award, and a 2023 United States Distance Learning Association Trendsetter in Distance Learning Award.

In April 2021, Rebecca was recognized as a rising “Nonprofit 40 Under 40” star by City & State and NYN Media. In September 2021, she also received the UPCEA Mid-Atlantic Region Faculty and Development Award for a mentorship program that she created in 2018 and still manages today for 74+ staff.
In 2020, Rebecca was invited to join the Business Intelligence Board at Workforce in July and at Chief Learning Officer in October. She was also awarded by UPCEA to be an inaugural Bethaida “Bea” González Diversity in Leadership Scholar.
In July 2019, Rebecca received a "Top 40 under 40" Workforce Game Changers Award, which acknowledges young, game-changing individuals who are making a difference in the workforce and people management sector around the world.
Rebecca also received the 2018 Mark Moses Distinguished Fellowship Award from the NSWM and was internationally recognized as an emerging leader in the field of social work management.
In addition to these individual recognitions, Rebecca received several team awards each year, which highlight her collaborative work and impact in her fields of practice.
Currently, Rebecca is the Program Manager for Columbia University’s School of Social Work, Online Campus, and has previously been a part of several teaching teams for graduate students. As technology continues to impact the world of higher education, Rebecca plays a critical role in operationalizing a world-class online program for the next leaders in social work practice and research. Apart from her work at Columbia, she co-owns and co-manages STYRO Matters, a boutique media agency that lives at the intersection of digital storytelling and social justice. Rebecca is also serving a 2-year term appointment as part of the 20th Advisory Committee with the National Unification Advisory Council, Los Angeles Chapter, which is a presidential consultative body that works with the President of South Korea on unification policies and proposals.
In addition to these roles, Rebecca guest-speaks for graduate classes and conferences, volunteers for social welfare efforts, and consults for agencies in the private, public, and governmental sectors. She has previously worked for the NYC Department of Education, UNICEF, UNDP, the United Nations, and a number of grassroots international organizations.
